Live ‘n’ Learn Lock-In
An overwhelming number of studies indicate that female youth are struggling with numerous issues ranging from body-image to peer pressure and self-esteem.
A Girl Scout Research Institute study finds that the more physically active girls are, the greater their self esteem and the more satisfied they are with their weight, regardless of how much they weigh. It also found 40% of girls ages 11-17 say they do not play sports because they do not feel skilled or competent and 23% do not think their bodies look good.
As Muslims in America, we are striving to give our daughters the tools they need to become successful contributors to the Muslim community, to their future families, and to society at-large.
The Realm of Knowledge presents Live ‘n’ Learn Lock-In for girls aged 9-14, a fun overnight workshop in the masjid providing a renewed sense of self-esteem and confidence in their Muslim identity. It will allow the girls to have fun, express themselves, and learn how to handle some of the most pressing social situations with confidence and ease.
Designed to delve into the ROK’s four essential realms, the girls will engage in intellectual, artistic, physical, and social activities that will equip them with the knowledge they need to proceed confidently in their roles as young Muslim girls growing up in America.
